Hallow Church of England Primary School is a Grade 2 listed building located in Hallow, Worcestershire. Through the Diocese of Worcester Multi-Academy Trust, the school was identified for remodelling and refurbishment works to move the main school reception to the front of the building improving safeguarding, create new administrative offices and music practice space by utilising areas of the listed building section that were previously unoccupied due to poor condition.
YMD Boon are the trusts appointed building consultant, and through competitive tender, R1 construction secured the scheme to undertake the works through an agreed 8 week construction programme beginning May 2020.
The client approached consultants YMD Boon to carry out a tender exercise on their behalf to improve the schools existing facilities that required bringing up to date with the rest of the school whilst making sure not to affect the buildings listed features
Taking careful consideration and pre-planning to manage works in and around the school building listed features, R1 construction carried out the installation of a kitchen facility to the servery area, complete refurbishment to the music rooms, and group space rooms, creation of a new headteachers office and reception space whilst installing new Fire rated partition walls complete with glazing screens and fire rated shutters.
Other improvement and restoration works include decoration and secondary glazing to the Grade 2 listed windows, restoration to the existing original main reception floor tiles and stonemason repairs to damaged stone features internally withing the building aswell as installing new external fencing and door access control for further safeguarding measures.
