Charity

R1 Construction proudly supports numerous grassroots sports clubs across the county, ranging from boxing to junior football. We are also deeply committed to working with local charities, strengthening our community connections and making a positive impact.

A group of six climbers from Shrewsbury have successfully reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2024, raising more than £21,000 for the newly founded ‘Life of Riley’ charity.

The team, including  Managing Director, Ben Tomkinson, Construction Director, Andy Evans and Business Development Manager, Dean Suter from R1 Construction, took on the ambitious challenge in memory of Riley Evans, who passed away, aged 12, from Burkitt Lymphoma in November 2023.

The Smile Project & Telford Crisis

A heartfelt thank you to the R1 team for their incredible support with our donation to the Telford Smile Project and Telford Crisis Support.

In keeping with a meaningful theme, the donation to the Smile Project included over 50 children’s books. We delivered the donations in December, ensuring the charities could distribute them in time for Christmas.

Dragon Boat Festival

In a show of support for local events, R1 took part in the Severn Hospice Dragon Boat Festival in July 2024. The team embraced the fantastic theme of "Music Legends," with each member dressing as an iconic musician – from Freddie Mercury and Dolly Parton to Elvis, Madonna, and more.

It was a brilliant day of fun and teamwork, and we can’t wait to take part again!

AGE Uk

Age UK Chrstmas Appeal

We were proud to partner with Age UK, contributing over £4,000 in donations to support their vital work. The funds were used to provide Christmas parcels to elderly residents in the local area who experience limited support and social interaction.

These parcels brought much-needed comfort and joy during the festive season, ensuring that those most in need felt cared for and valued. Supporting Age UK reflects our commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable members of our community.

Wrekin Rowers

We were proud to support the Wrekin Rowers in their ambitious endeavour to take on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Their goal: to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, all in aid of Severn Hospice.

Action for Children

In memory of Abby Francis, a much-loved local girl and friend of R1 who sadly passed away in September 2019, R1 proudly contributed to a friends and family fundraiser.

The fundraiser supported their participation in the Great North Run, honouring Abby's memory and celebrating her life.

Peaks For Piper.jpg

Peaks For Piper

Proud to support local challengers, R1 donated to a fundraiser for a group taking on the Five Peaks Challenge.

This incredible feat involved climbing five of Britain and Ireland's highest peaks—spanning England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Ireland—all within an ambitious 48 hours!

Oswestry Boxing Club

R1 proudly supports local amateur boxing clubs through donations, helping to host competitive events throughout the year. This support not only sustains the sport but also creates valuable pathways for aspiring boxers across Shropshire.
