Overview
R1 Construction refurbished Ptarmigan House, a 16,610 sq. ft commercial building at Shrewsbury Business Park for Property Services Group (PSG). The project included a full refurbishment, fire safety upgrades, and new energy-efficient windows, enhancing compliance, sustainability, and aesthetics.
R1 Construction successfully completed the major refurbishment of Ptarmigan House, a 16,610 sq. ft (1,543.12 sq. m) two-storey commercial building at Shrewsbury Business Park. The project was delivered for Property Services Group (PSG), providing a modern, efficient, and future-proofed workspace designed to meet contemporary office requirements.
The refurbishment involved reconfiguring the office layout by removing internal walls and meeting rooms to create a more open and functional workspace. A full mechanical and electrical upgrade was undertaken, including new lighting, emergency lighting, and a split air conditioning system for improved climate control. Security and fire safety enhancements were also implemented, featuring new access control systems, fire dampers, water boilers, and compartmentation measures.

Externally, 170 ceramic and 12 clear glazing panels were replaced, along with new Trespa cladding and upgraded windows to enhance both energy efficiency and aesthetics. Additional works included the installation of new fire doors, flooring, suspended ceilings, blinds, FF&E, and full redecoration throughout. Internal and external signage was also updated to reflect the modernised workspace.
The successful completion of this project has provided PSG with a transformed workspace, combining modern design with enhanced functionality and efficiency. The refurbishment ensures compliance with the latest regulations while creating a more comfortable and adaptable office environment.
