Overview

Funded through the Condition Improvement Fund (CIF), the recently completed project at Oakthorpe Primary School has delivered much-needed new teaching facilities, ready for the start of the school term. Constructed using a timber frame, the new building provides a high-performance learning environment that is durable, energy-efficient, and cost-effective, ensuring a sustainable and modern space for both students and staff.

R1 Construction is proud to have successfully delivered a much-needed new teaching facility at Oakthorpe Primary School in Leicestershire. Completed earlier this year, the project was undertaken on behalf of YMD Boon as part of a wider initiative to replace outdated mobile classrooms with modern, high-performance learning environments.

Located in Swadlincote, the new building was designed to enhance the school’s teaching capacity while ensuring a comfortable, energy-efficient, and inclusive space for students and staff. With a focus on sustainability and long-term performance, the structure was constructed using a timber frame and Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), a method that not only accelerates the construction process but also significantly improves thermal efficiency and overall building performance.
