Funded by a £1.5 Million Grant, the State-of-the-Art Facility Promises Enhanced Opportunities for Local Youth
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion and official handover of the new youth centre we constructed for SYA All About Youth in Shrewsbury.
Thanks to a £1.5 million Youth Investment Fund grant, this new building in Shrewsbury boasts various facilities designed to provide children and young people with the best possible opportunities and experiences. The new headquarters features a training room, an open-plan social and creative area, offices, as well as toilets and a kitchen on each floor.
Alex Swancott, Commercial Director of R1 Construction, said: "It's been a real privilege to be involved in this scheme. From our early conversations with the client, it was clear how much this new facility could help support and transform the lives of young people throughout Shropshire. This building sets a new benchmark for energy performance in buildings in the area. Our team worked closely with PSG and SYA to deliver a project that maximises the use of MMC and achieves some of the highest standards of energy performance and sustainability.
"To be able to construct this on behalf of SYA is something we are incredibly proud of, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the community for many years to come."
Commenting on the completion of the project, Claire Purcell, Community Engagement and Fundraising Manager at SYA, said: "Myself and the team at SYA are incredibly proud to open the doors of the fabulous new SYA HQ and Youth Facility to local young people this Summer. The building is bright and fresh and is already being enjoyed by many.
"Services for young people have been heavily cut over the years, and to have this state of the art building, especially for them shows that SYA is leading the way in changing futures. We are hugely grateful to the Youth Investment Fund and R1 Construction for helping us to realise our dream."
